The Magnificent Power of Comfrey

Why Your Holy Hot Mom Oil Works
(and Why This Plant Was Never Meant to Be Forgotten)

Let me tell you a story about a plant that refuses to be ordinary.

A plant that grows fast, gives generously, regenerates endlessly, and shows up like a loyal friend every single season.

A plant that knows bones.

That plant is comfrey.

And once you understand comfrey, you understand why my oil works the way it does.

Not in a fluffy, woo-woo way.

In a real, earthy, dirt-under-the-nails, roots-in-your-hands way.

This is an article about how I work with comfrey.

Why I use every part of the plant.

Why I grow it.

Why it’s hard to find in mainstream products.

Why I put an actual bloom in some bottles.

And why there is literally an entire comfrey bush inside every small batch I make.

Pull up a chair and get comfy! Lol

Let’s talk about the quiet powerhouse of the herbal world.

First: What Is Comfrey (Really)?

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) has been called:

  • Knitbone

  • The bone knitter

  • boneset

  • bruisewort

  • healer of fractures

Those names didn’t come from marketing departments.

They came from experience.

For thousands of years, people used comfrey externally for:

  • sore joints

  • tired muscles

  • bruises

  • strains

  • recovery support

  • skin repair

  • and yes—bones

The Latin name Symphytum literally means “to knit together.”

That’s not poetic.

That’s botanical. It is a bone knitter.

Comfrey is rich in allantoin, a compound known for supporting tissue regeneration and skin repair. It also contains mucilage (that slippery soothing quality you feel when you crush the leaves), plus minerals pulled deep from the soil via its long taproots.

This plant is a miner and a Queen!

It brings nutrients up from the underground world and delivers them into its leaves, stems, blooms, and roots.

Which is why I use ALL of it. And it’s so pretty too!

Why You Don’t Hear About Comfrey Everywhere

Here’s the part most people don’t know.

Comfrey was quietly sidelined.

Not because it doesn’t work.

Because it does. The powers that make cash and take control of your bodies, minds, and spirits do not want a simple plant that you can grow in your backyard to get in front of their agenda, and addiction causing “care” - oh no… not a healthy medicine plant!

Just like Randolf Hearst started a smear campaign in his paper printed newspapers about how horribly bad mary-jay-wanna was. He did headlines like “Mexicans are going to come up and r-pe our women from smoking pot!” It was lunacy and people bought it! Imagine that.

Hearst’s strategy worked and the hemp plant was banned. Why did he do that? Because the country was about to start printing all the newspapers with hemp - because that makes way more sense!

But here comes a clever cash-filled control freak who used the manipulation of the media (nooo they do that?) to literally print a demonizing campaign against a competitor plant and therefore kept the papers printed on paper - supplied by his lumber.

That’s how it works, folks!

The powers of comfrey were discovered and the plant became wildly popular. Then regulatory agencies stepped in—because people were ingesting it - it’s topical folks.

Instead of teaching responsible use (external application only), they used the outlier stories to again demonize a plant so that the full powers could be buried. It was illegal to grow comfrey there for a minute too I hear.

How convenient for those making money with meds, right?

So comfrey got shoved into the shadows as a dangerous plant. HAHAHA Dangerous to broken bones and bastards!

Meanwhile:

  • pharmaceutical pain relievers exploded - hmmm, wonder why?

  • anti-inflammatory creams multiplied - no, really?

  • synthetic alternatives filled shelves - oh wait until I tell you about GABA!

And one of the most powerful traditional external herbs got labeled “controversial.”

Classic move.

The Truth?

Used properly, comfrey is one of the most generous healing allies on Earth.

That’s why I grow it.

That’s why I harvest it myself.

That’s why I don’t outsource this relationship, although YOU grow comfrey and I’ll come harvest it and show you how to too.

I will tell you how to grow it and use it.

And I use it in ALL of my Holy Hot Mom products!

My Method: Whole Plant. Whole Season. Whole Respect.

I don’t dabble with comfrey. I make that Queen the STAR! There is pretty much an entire comfrey bush in each batch of 50 bottles.

I am a partner with it. I give it front and center star placement on the stage and have the other herbs and flowers highlight her like a backup chorus.

Here’s how I work with it through the year:

🌱 Spring

Fresh leaves start emerging. This is when the plant wakes up and begins pulling minerals upward. Early infusions carry that bright green vitality. I take the blooms (they are sooo pretty!) and I dry them in the Book of Enoch with prayers and words. Then I use those dried blooms in the oil as well as putting a bloom in each bottle of the spring / summer edition. It’s so pretty!

🌸 Summer

This is peak magic.

The leaves are large.

The blooms appear—those soft purple bells that feel almost shy, they are so delicate.

In summer:

  • harvest fresh leaves

  • collect more blooms

  • begin fresh plant oil infusions

  • dry additional leaves and flowers for later batches

This is also when I create my Summer Blends—fresh comfrey infused directly into oil while the plant is at full power.

Those batches hit differently. They are even more potent and work even faster.

They carry living plant energy. You think the oil is fast feeling now, the Summer leaves make it a superhero.

I also dry the blooms and—yes— I repeat, I dry them in the book of Enoch because that’s what I do. Putting a tiny bloom into each bottle is intentional and ceremonial like old-world medicine grandma style with a chef’s kiss.

🍂 Early Fall

Roots are ready.

This is when the plant pulls energy downward. The roots are thick, dark, potent, and mineral-dense. I dig them carefully, wash them, chop them, and dry them for future infusions.

Roots carry grounding power. Leaves carry movement. Blooms carry spirit.

All three matter in the lifting chronic pain concoctions!

There Is Literally a Whole Comfrey Bush in Every Batch

Let me make this very clear:

I don’t sprinkle comfrey into your oil.

I don’t wave a leaf over it.

I don’t buy powdered mystery herbs from China.

In a typical small batch—about 50 bottles—there is:

  • one entire comfrey bush worth of leaves

  • plus roots

  • plus blooms and fresh leaves in the spring and summer blends

That’s a full plant ally partnership.

Not diluted.

Not symbolic.

Not trendy.

Actual biomass.

That’s why you FEEEL it so well! That’s why it works so fast and is a profound experience. It’s not just castor butt oil! LOL

Fresh vs Dried: Why I Use Both

Fresh comfrey oil and dried comfrey oil are two different medicines.

Fresh plant infusions (especially summer batches):

  • feel more alive

  • penetrate fast

  • carry that green electric quality

Dried plant infusions:

  • are deeper

  • earthier

  • more grounding

  • more concentrated in certain minerals

So I blend both. Fresh leaves for vitality. Dried leaves for strength.

Roots for structural support. Blooms for the subtle layer most people ignore.

That’s what makes the oil multidimensional.

Not just “pain relief,” it is a spiritual demand. That’s why I also add powerful WORDS for YOU to SAY OUT LOUD when you use it!

That’s not theater - although I dare you to come release your wild beautiful self at the Sacred Circus! https://thesacredcircus.com/

Your Body FEELS Support for:

  • fascia

  • connective tissue

  • joints

  • muscles

  • skin

  • recovery

It’s not just one note. It is a chorus mixed with the other herbs and flowers for a sacred body symphony.  It’s like a little Opera on your skin singing out the pain and calling in God to every cell. You know, just a simple oil…

Why Growing Your Own Comfrey Is a Power Move

If you have dirt, grow comfrey. Seriously. Do it. Get the roots on Etsy or get them from me later this year. I’m pondering ways to share clippings…

Once established, it:

  • comes back every year

  • grows aggressively (in a good way) She’s not leaving you!

  • regenerates after cutting

  • feeds pollinators

  • builds soil

  • makes incredible compost tea

  • provides endless medicine

One plant becomes many. It claims the space and teaches abundance.

Plant it somewhere permanent. It sends down deep roots and doesn’t like being moved. Treat it like a long-term relationship. Again, she’s not leaving once you plant her so choose wisely and she can get big.

If you’re in this healing life even a little bit, comfrey belongs in your garden. We put many on the outside of the fence as a border too. She’s strong.

The Oil Is Not the Product. The Relationship Is!

Here’s the thing most brands don’t talk about:

Herbal medicine works because of your relationship to it. That’s why your Holy Hot Mom oil comes with WORDS!

You now have a Relationship with:

  • the plant

  • the seasons

  • the soil

  • the harvest timing

  • the preparation

  • the intention - the WORDS.

You can’t factory that. You can’t outsource that.

You have to show up. That’s why I give you WORDS to say.

You don’t have to say anything out loud, but the power move is to speak your healing into your oil and into your body. Much like we speak into water - we are water. Much like speak over your food - anything you consume really.

Imagine speaking over your “netflix and chill” buddy. LOL

Use your intention and words with gifts from the Earth and see what happens!

Every Summer Blend bottle carries:

  • fresh summer infusions

  • slow dried leaf oils

  • root extractions

  • bloom essence

  • and hands-on preparation from start to finish

That’s why people message me saying:

“I don’t know what you put in this - but my body knew immediately and it woke up. I felt that instantly!”

Your body recognizes real plant medicine and not the plant medicine where you’re going to adopt a new name and start wearing crystals and speaking in a monotone but plant medicine like aloe, dandolion, mullein - the comfrey bush is the star Queen in my world and it’s a pleasure to introduce you to her!

Why I Offer a Summer Blend (and Why You’ll Want It)

The Summer Blend is special because it’s made with fresh comfrey at peak vitality from the plants I grow.

Not warehouse dried.

Not months-old bulk stock.

Living leaves.

Living blooms.

Direct infusion.

That window only exists for part of the year.

These will sell out and because you LOVE this oil - here is the beauty one. From my own personal bushes I can make a series of batches.

👉 claim your Summer Blend bottle

👉 don’t wait until they are gone

That batch carries the sunlight of the season.

And once it sells out, it sells out. And I’ll plant more!

Truth: Comfrey Is a Knowing Plant

Comfrey doesn’t scream. It doesn’t sparkle. She’s kinda scratchy. It doesn’t market itself.

It just shows up. And it does not leave. You plant it and it lives there!

Over and over and over again. Quietly rebuilding what’s tired. Supporting what’s strained.

Holding what’s been through too much. Just like a good godmother. Just like a old timer healer.

And that’s why I work with it the way I do.

The whole plant. Whole season. Whole respect.

If you feel called to try it, trust that nudge.

Your body already knows.

It’s time to Come Free with Comfrey!

I love you, Comfrey!
